WSI Smart Web Marketing a San Jose Internet Marketing agency recently completed the first half of a search engine optimization project for Modutek Corporation located in San Jose California. Modutek provides semiconductor manufacturing and related wet processing and wet bench manufacturing equipment for the high technology industry. Their specialized manufacturing equipment is used by manufacturers of semiconductors, flat panel displays, solar panels and other technologies that require precise chemical etching and cleaning processes.
The first step in optimizing Modutek’s site was to conduct an extensive keyword research on terms associated with the products and services they provide to their customers. Using a process known as “semantic mapping”, WSI was able to compile and organize keyword terms with similar associations into major and minor groups.

In total 24 pages of the website were optimized.
Off-page search engine optimization for Modutek started in mid-June 2013. This involves on-going work to create content with relevant links on various third-party websites to improve page rank. This activity has been sending direct as well as indirect traffic to the site. Blogs at BlogSpot and WordPress, along with local directory listings have been the major focus of this project.
In addition, WSI has been focused on improving the conversion optimization of Modutek’s website. Conversion optimization is the process of increasing overall website leads and sales by increasing the percentage of visitors who take action when they are on the site. We are in the process of collecting website conversion data, isolating various aspects of the site design, and optimizing it for increased conversion. Updated design elements are then tested and compared to the old ones and when a winner has emerged we incorporate that change and proceed on to the next idea. This process maximizes the value of the new SEO traffic as well as the existing traffic to the site. The on-going effort and performance of the site is being tracked monthly using Google Analytics.
So far after 4 months into the search engine optimization project, Modutek is now ranking on the first page of Google for 13 of their keyword terms and are on page two and three for several others. Visitor site traffic from has gone up by over 400% on a monthly basis. Douglas Wagner the CEO of Modutek indicated they are now getting 3-4 times the number of calls each week for product quotes compared to before they began their search engine optimization project. The calls for quotes they have gotten from searchers who found their site online have already resulted in new sales for the company that have already paid for the costs of their new site and the search engine optimization project many times over.
